  2. `UFO SEEN' ON NIGHT OF GREEN GLOW                                      09/02/96

  7. AN UNIDENTIFIED, oval craft was seen in the sky on the same night that
  8. Loughborough was lit up by a baffling, emerald glow.
  9.  
  10. And a witness has described the strange craft as giving off a vivid green
  11. light!
  12.  
  13. News of the sighting has reached the Echo from Joyce Tomblin, of Willoughby on
  14. the Wolds.
  15.  
  16. An amazed Mrs Tomblin described what she saw from the window of her Main Street
  17. hime as `a brightly illuminated green oval shape with white, flashing lights on
  18. its underside.'
  19.  
  20. Even stranger is the fact that her sighting took place on the same night
  21. (January 8) that scores of Echo readers reported a ghostly green glow in the
  22. sky over Loughborough.
  23.  
  24. Mrs Tomblin added: "When I saw it, it was travelling quite quickly in a
  25. northerly direction.
  26.  
  27. "It was spectacular to watch as it was giving off a translucent, bright green
  28. light. It looked like an air balloon or and airship.
  29.  
  30. "I have not seen anything like it before or since, unfortunately, I did not
  31. have my camera to hand or I would have taken a picture of it."
  32.  
  33. Since reports first emerged of the mysterious emerald glow, the Echo has been
  34. inundated with theories for the strange phenomenon.
  35.  
  36. But, so far, none of them has proved to be watertight.
  37.
